This 5 star hotel located near the Kolkata airport was originally under the government owned Ashok Group of Hotels. Post disinvestment, the hotel now belongs to the renowned MBD group, which has recently made its foray into the hospitality industry. The group already owns the Radisson Hotel at Noida. In its earlier avatar, the hotel never really came into prominence as a 5 star hotel. But now with the change of guard, MBD group has repositioned this fledging hotel into the main stream of Kolkata's hospitality landscape.
The name does make a difference and looks do count, and as part of the MBD groups renovation agenda, the hotel now wears a sparkling new look. The management had roped in one of India's best-known architect - Hafiz Contractor to redesign and refurbish the entire edifice. As a result of its renovated looks and professional services, the hotel has seen increased occupancy and 30 per cent rise in profits.
This is a 156 room hotel which is inclusive of 144 twin bedded rooms and 12 luxuries suites. The rooms are well furnished with matching decor and upholstery. Most modern amenities that one associates with any international five star hotels are available in every guest room. For instance international direct dialing telephones, satellite TV that beam CNN, BBC, STAR etc., Mini bar, working desk and high speed internet connectivity are some of the features of this hotel guest room.
Additionally, the guest rooms are also provided with 24 hour room service, free newspaper, wake up services, laundromat and personal safes.
