Tradition combined with modernity is what you will get at The Elgin. The Elgin Hotel is 120 year old and was the residence of the Maharaja of Cooch Bihar. From 1911 AD to 1930 AD, John William Pavion and his wife Edith Agnes Pavion took the building on rent to run the hotel. After that, Margaret Walker ran the hotel from 1930 to 1947. Finally, the hotel was passed on to Nancy Oakely. The guests are greeted by draping a silken Khada around the neck in typical Himalayan tradition.
The Elgin Hotel Darjeeling offers 30 well appointed rooms are a haven of luxury. The décor of the room s comprises of oak floorboards and paneling, fireplaces and antic Burma teak furniture.

The freshly-bakes cakes, pastries, breads and other products are sure to bring water in the mouth. The special and equally famous Darjeeling teas can be had at the tea lounge. For the selected wines and liquors, you can go to the Timber Bar.
The Elgin Hotel Darjeeling is ideal for social events, wedding receptions, banquets and meetings in the same manner as was done during the time of the Maharaja of Cooch Bihar.
